Sunday Services
Our Sunday Service is conducted by two Readers, elected by and from our membership. The Lesson Sermon, which is the basis of the service, consists of readings from the Bible and correlative passages from, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
This Lesson Sermon is the one used in Christian Science churches and societies throughout the world. It is found in the current edition of the Christian Science Quarterly. Our service also includes three hymns sung by the congregation, a vocal solo, and the Lord's Prayer from Mathew with its spiritual interpretation from our textbook. The service lasts about one hour. A collection is taken near the end of the services and is totally voluntary.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School is for all children and young people up to the age of twenty. Sunday School opens with the singing of a hymn followed by the Golden Text and Responsive Reading from the Weekly Bible Lesson and the Lord’s Prayer. Key first lessons are the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. The students are then taught in small classes where they learn from the Bible and discuss ideas from the Weekly Bible Lesson which is being read in the church service.
Our Sunday School emphasizes practical spiritual approaches to living and to solving day-to-day problems. Sunday School is held at the same time as the Sunday Church Services and lasts about one hour.
Wednesday Testimony Meetings
Our Wednesday Evening Testimony Meetings include readings from the Bible and from our textbook. There is also a period of the meeting during which attendees may give testimonies of healing through the practical application of Christian Science. The meeting also includes the Lord’s Prayer and three hymns sung by the congregation. The meetings last about one hour. No collection is taken at a Wednesday Testimony Meeting.
Child Care at Services and Testimony Meetings
Child care is available during the Sunday Service for children too young for Sunday School. It is also available during the Wednesday Evening Testimony Meetings for pre-school children.
